Hello, welcome to Pizza and a Movie! Today’s pizza is one of those super simple pies that packs a flavor punch. Classic pepperoni, mozzarella and red onion slices going into the oven; coming out of the oven we have dollops of ricotta, a drizzle of honey, a pinch of red pepper flakes and fresh basil leaves. Since it’s Friday the 13th, We’re watching the Netflix show Wednesday. Have you watched it yet? It’s your next binge-worthy show, so let’s get to it!
Preheat your oven with a pizza stone or steel to 425 degrees F. Spin, stretch or roll your prepared pizza to to about 12-inches round. Sprinkle grated low moisture mozzarella over the pizza and top with pepperoni and red onion slices.
Bake the pizza for 10-15 minutes, until the dough is puffed and golden, the cheese is melted, bubbly and browning in spots.
Pull the pie from the oven and top the hot pie with dollops of room-temperature ricotta cheese. Drizzle on some honey. Sprinkle on some red pepper flakes if you like and top with fresh basil leaves.
And that’s it! Such a simple pie, but don’t let the simplicity lull you into thinking this pizza is boring or, same-old. The honey really elevates the flavors to another level.
Movie Night: Wednesday
We have our Pepperoni Ricotta Pizza ready so let’s get to the movie – or show, rather. I recently watched the first season of Wednesday on Netflix and while I had heard the show was good, I maybe wasn’t prepared to enjoy it as much as I did. Jenna Ortega plays the infamous Wednesday Addams and she is wonderful! Wry, witty, and sinister, this version of Wednesday is my favorite so far. Because the show centers on her, we get to know this character better than any of her previous portrayals. Instead of a trailer, I have included my favorite scene from the show.
With an amazing (and perfectly cast) supporting cast, Wednesday follows the precocious teen as she solves the mysterious murders in the small town where she attends Nevermore Academy; all while coming to grips with her own psychic ability and solving the mystery that involved her parents at Nevermore 25 years earlier. Such a cute show, though perhaps not quite appropriate for people under 13 years old, Wednesday is a show about teens that is perfectly enjoyable for adults. Season 1 is available to stream on Netflix with a subscription.
Thank you all so much for joining me today for Pizza and a Movie! I hope you give this Pepperoni Ricotta Pizza, it’s so good! Catch up with Pizza and a Movie any time by clicking Pizza and a Movie in the Series Tab in the main menu. Take care and be well, xo Kelly

January 13, 2023 at 9:41 amI am such a goof! I was looking at the picture and was fascinated by the sprinkling of basil and pepper flakes, that made such cute faces on the cheese. One looked to me Ike a bunny with floppy ears. It’s like cloud watching when you’re a kid, but it’s better as an adult, because there is pizza! I haven’t seen Wednesday, but after your recommendation, I will give the movie a try, and possibly watch te series. I like murder mysteries, so it’s an obvious choice for me. Rainy, gloomy Friday, and we have an awful virus, so there w t be pizza until later in the weekend. Stay well and dry Djalalis, and give the pups a hug for me.
