Hello and welcome to Pizza and a Movie on Djalali Cooks. Today I have the other half of that Ciabatta loaf from a couple weeks ago. For that pizza I did a Soppressata pizza with apples, it was delicious! Click here for the recipe. Today though, I have a classic Supreme combination. With tomato sauce, pepperoni, green peppers, onions and mushrooms. I love a combination like this on a thick, airy, soft bread like Ciabatta. The Ciabatta holds up to the weight of the toppings beautifully. Let’s get to it!
I think one of the things that made this Ciabatta pizza especially good is that I used a “bake-at-home” loaf from the supermarket bakery. This is a par-baked loaf that you finish off in your home oven. You can find baguettes and other French bread loaves like this and I think using a par-baked loaf works out well because the bread stays soft and the outer crust doesn’t become too tough.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Slice the loaf in half horizontally and lay one half, cut side up, on a small sheet tray. I have pre-cooked the mushrooms to cook off their moisture so that the pizza won’t get too wet. Just sauté the mushrooms with a little water until the water is evaporated. Season with kosher salt and pepper, drizzle in a little olive oil and sauté the mushrooms in olive oil just until they begin to develop some browning. Remove from heat and we can build our Supreme Ciabatta Pizza.
Building the Supreme Ciabatta Pizza
Top the bread with tomato sauce, then about half the cheese. Top with pepperoni.
Then add the sliced bell peppers, and about half the sliced onion. Then do another layer of pepperoni.
Add the mushrooms on top of the second layer of pepperoni. Top the mushrooms with the remaining cheese and onion slices. And we are ready for the oven!
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Transfer the pizza to a cutting board and use a pizza blade to slice the Supreme Ciabatta Pizza into four strips.
And that’s it! Classic American Pizza flavors on a thick and chewy crust of Ciabatta bread. A really great Supreme Ciabatta Pizza! I hope you give this one a try, it’s a comforting, classic pizza. Let’s get to the movie!
Movie Night: Paris, je t’aime
Paris, je t’aime is an older film, from 2006. It’s a film of vignettes; an anthology of 18 short films, each taking place in a different arrondissement, or district, of Paris. 18 stories about love, relationships, loss…each completely unique, directed by different directors, but all love letters to the city of Paris.
Lately, I have been watching movies set in Paris, listening to podcasts and books in and about Paris in preparation for my upcoming trip. I remembered seeing this movie when it came out and I really enjoyed it then, it holds up really well, in my opinion. Paris, je t’aime is beautiful and heartfelt. If you’ve seen it before, it’s worth a rewatch. It’s a great film to watch just before a trip to Paris! Paris, je t’aime is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Peacock, Vudu, YouTube and Google Play, among many other streaming services.
Thank you so much for joining me today for this Supreme Ciabatta Pizza. Take care and be well! xo Kelly

October 28, 2022 at 10:07 amThanks for another great pizza, which looks fabulous, because it’s yours. So of course it does! I will have to watch that movie too. The nun that taught us French in high school, instilled a lifelong love for the language that has persisted to this day. Back in high school, she and I were crushing on Jean-Claude Killy, the skier. She used to bring all her French magazines and we would look at the pictures, and giggle like maniacs. Apparently I had a terrible effect on the poor woman. I do love to hear French spoken, and if it’s not machine gun fast I can make a lot of it out. Thank goodness for the online music sites, I can hear every Francoise Hardy song ever recorded. My CDs are still buried in a box in the closet and I have never unpacked it. Our French addiction is still The Agency, which is about high end French realtors in Paris. We are hoping for another season because it’s fun to watch. It has subtitles and if you’re a fast reader, it’s easy to follow. These days I drool over the houses and architecture, but not the guys. However, if Jean-Claude were a realtor, well! On that note, a very Happy Fabulous Friday to Kelly, Alex, Terry and the three mischievous cuties. 🍁🎃🐕

October 28, 2022 at 10:16 amIt’s World Series time so will say your two ciabatta pizzas are a Grand Slam for someone like me! I made the first one substituting thin ham slices. Loved it! Will love this one as well. Very happy you’re going to Paris! You and Beth have a glorious time. Much love to both 🧡
